So I am expanding my curiosity, investment, and mining capabilities in building a new 2-level Crypto Mining Rig. The intention eventually will be to fill it with 16 AMD Radeon 6800 GPUs for crypto mining. I was attempting to build a “riser card” type of miner, and it didn’t work out so well. I am not sure if it was the motherboard or the components that I used to build it, but it wouldn’t even POST.
I tried to use the Biostar TB360-BTC PRO 2.0. After a month and due diligence to source the right parts, it was like a movie with Mathew McConaghey called “Failure To Launch” (Good Movie BTW). I had already built my first prototype mining rig, and it was a success using the CNmuca BTC S37 Miner Motherboard which is less complicated with not as many modular parts as the motherboards with riser cards, processors, USB Cables, etc.
So since I already had a rough idea for the one-level rig (8x GPU), I was able to piece together the second one relatively easy with no blueprints using wood I already had on hand, the use of a good imagination and creativity, a saw, and a cordless Robi power drill. And it became alive! I will post more of this rig as I feel this is a work in progress for some time to come.
With only 2 cards in it right now, it has a lot of potential. The plan is to stock it with the AMD Radeon RX 6800 XT Red Devils:
And in Hive OS, it is getting some great results with the overclock for the one 6800 cards I do have. I will slowly be investing in these cards as they are a little pricy.
Two of my friends asked me why I was building my own rigs that were all open air, and it relates to heat and airflow. I am choosing this to keep the core temperature of the over-clocked graphics cards low so I don’t burn them out. An enclosed case would sort of trap the heat in and that is NOT what you want in this situation.
