RSA Keyfob

An RSA token keyfob, often called an RSA SecurID token, is a hardware device used for two-factor authentication (2FA). Here’s how it works:

  1. Two-Factor Authentication: The keyfob generates a unique, time-sensitive code (usually every 60 seconds) using a built-in clock and a factory-encoded random key (seed).
  2. Personal Identification Number (PIN): Users must enter this code along with a PIN to gain access to a network or system.
  3. Security: This combination of something you have (the token) and something you know (the PIN) adds an extra layer of security.

The RSA token keyfob is a small, portable device that can easily carry on a keychain. It’s designed to be tamper-resistant and provides a secure way to verify identity.
